I’m Sally, an audiologist who specialises in tinnitus.  I started to lose my own hearing – and got my first pair of hearing aids – in my mid-twenties.  I also developed tinnitus and found a way to overcome it which – combined with the latest research – I share as my unique “Active Habituation” treatment.

During my early hearing care appointments I became very interested in the audiologist’s role.  I had some experiences that were wonderful, but it was the bad ones that gave me the drive to do it better.  I wanted to take control of my own hearing, and help my family who suffer from the same progressive severe/profound hearing loss.  I left work to retrain in 2014, graduating with a 2:1 bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Science (Audiology) from the University of Leeds.

I have seen inside NHS audiology departments and worked for two big high street chains.  Seeing the frustrations my patients experienced in these organisations inspired me to do more, to do better.  “Hearing Care The Way It Should Be” is more than just an advertising line, it describes everything I do.  I understand how difficult it can be to contact your audiologist, and I understand how important your hearing is to you.  Hearing aids are kept in a hostile environment (the ear) so they will need service and parts eventually.  You need that process to be efficient and easy to obtain.

Too many companies dispense as many aids as possible, then avoid dedicating time to service.  A fast appointment to have a hearing test seems fantastic, but waiting a month or more to have an aid repaired is not uncommon at some companies.  At Hearing and Tinnitus Care, repairs are priority number one.  You can contact me directly by text or email as well as phone, and you will receive prompt responses.  Audiologists should lead the way in making customer service accessible for those who are hard of hearing.

I have made a name for myself by giving a ‘wow factor’ where people have had poor experiences elsewhere.  I take the time to do the work right at every stage of your journey.  In the early stages you need honest, independent advice without pressure.  When you are an experienced hearing aid user, you need expert guidance on selecting from current technology.   If you have tinnitus or hyperacusis you need hearing aids that are set to be sensitive to your needs.  For very severe hearing loss, you need your audiologist to have patience while you try minor adjustments to get every drop of clarity from the aids. 

I trial and review all the aids I dispense, so I can more easily match up my patients with something they will love.  Hearing aid manufacturers are all unique in how they sound – where one might suit you, you might hate another brand.  As an independent practitioner I have a wide range to choose from and access to the latest technology – some models of aids are not available at e.g. Boots or Specsavers.  I am not tied in to any one manufacturer, so you can be sure you will get hearing aids that suit you.  I have a 30-day returns period and offer extended demonstrations to give customers absolute confidence in their choice.
